a day in santiago, chile
On Friday, my family and I spent a day exploring the beautiful city of Santiago, Chile.
First we went to Metropolitan Park located on San Cristobal Hill. In the park, they have Teleferico cable cars, just like the ones in Quito. (Thankfully, this time, there was no throwing up involved!) We rode the cable cars up to the first stop. We got out and walked around for a bit. There were playgrounds and we walked through beautiful gardens. Then we got back on and rode all the way to the top of the mountain. From there, you could see the Andes mountains and a great panoramic view of Santiago.
After we went to the park, we grabbed some food and headed to the Gran Torre, which is the tallest building in Chile, but also in all of Latin America. In the building, there is a mall and the option to go all the way to the top to see amazing views of the city. We decided to do both! First we went to the top which was astounding. The walls were all windows which made us love it even more because there were unobstructed views. Since we were surrounded but the Andes, it felt like you were in the snowcapped peaks, even though they were a far distance away.
After we experienced that, we went to the mall, of course! We went to a French Crepe Co. where we got lemon gelato, chocolate ice cream, and a delicious Nutella and raspberry crepe. My mouth was watering just waiting for it to arrive to my table.
This was an amazing day in Santiago and I can’t wait to go back someday!
