ROAD TRIP: DAYS 3 - 5

Days 3 and 4

We visited the “cool little town” of Hokitika. We arrived in Hokitika on Wednesday the 23rd. We were staying in this very cute little house on the beach. There was a patio with a swing over looking the Tasman sea. Everyday we would go out there to enjoy the lovely view, even if it was raining outside.

The first thing that we did when we got to Hokitika was celebrate my mom’s birthday! 🎉 We all got her different gifts, although she loved mine the most!

Then after that excitement was over, we celebrated Thanksgiving! We had a delicious turkey dinner, courtesy of dad, and we spoke with our families via Zoom. Even though everything is really different here, we had a really delicious meal and time with family. But guess what?! Throughout both of those wonderful celebrations… it was POURING rain!

Day 5

We drove to the Pancake Rocks and Blowholes to check it out. It was really cool. We walked along the curvy pathways (getting cut off by German-speaking tourists the whole time). We saw layers of rocks, stacked on top of each other, just like pancakes.

We saw blowholes, which are similar to chimneys. There are pools of water at the bottom of them, and the force of the waves pushes water up through the rock tunnels, shooting water from the top.

THE END!
