Okavango Delta
Last week, we went to the Okavango Delta. To get there, we took a small propeller plane. Then, to get to the lodge, we took a boat.
That’s when we met our guide, Duncan. He was the one that would drive us to the lodge. So we got in the boat and started to drive away. When we were almost there, we heard something. Guess what we heard?
Singing!!!
All the staff were standing on the dock and singing us a welcome song!
When we got off the boat, they gave us cold towels and a refreshing drink. This was not camping – this was totally glamping!
That afternoon, we chilled out until it was time for our sunset boat cruise. We went fishing for the first time! But this was not our friends’ first time. No one caught any fish, but Harper caught a lily pad!
The next day we got up early, had a delicious breakfast, and then took a boat and a safari vehicle to get to our activity, a mokoro adventure.
A mokoro boat ride is like canoeing but there are no oars. Instead, there is a guide at the back of the boat with a long stick who is moving and steering the boat. That person is called a poler. When we were in the middle of our ride, our poler taught us how to make necklaces out of lilies.
At the end of our mokoro adventure, we had lunch outside. There was Quiche Lorraine but Duncan called it Quiche Caroline, which made us all laugh.
The next day, we sadly had to leave. But remember how they sang us a welcome song? Well, we decided to sing them a goodbye song. We were so sad to leave but we really really enjoyed our stay.
Thank you for reading. I hope you enjoyed!!!
P.S.There was a person named Caprio and he was so nice and funny. He was the best!!!
