WELCOME TO VICTORIA FALLS
The most exciting part about arriving in Africa was meeting up with our friends from home! They flew all the way from Connecticut to Africa to join us for spring break in Zimbabwe, Zambia, and Botswana. We hadn’t seen them for 7 months, so we were very excited to be with them again!
Our first stop in Africa was the great Victoria Falls, the largest waterfall on earth and a Natural Wonder of the World. On the first day, we walked along the falls on the Zimbabwe side, and the second day, we walked across a bridge to walk along the paths on the Zambia side. On both occasions, we came back SOAKED! Because the waterfalls are so big and powerful, heavy mist showers everybody near the falls. At first, it was only a gentle misting which felt nice since we were so hot. But as we kept walking and exploring, we became more and more wet. It felt like it was pouring rain! Our shoes filled with water and we were soaked to the bone, even though some of us wore ponchos.
After we visited the falls we went to the Victoria Falls Hotel (the first hotel built in Vic Falls) to enjoy high tea and a sunset view. We had fancy pastries and tea while watching as the sky turned beautiful shades of purple, orange, and pink. We also enjoyed watching wild warthogs roam around the property!
Victoria Falls is magnificent. Its size is incredible. Everyone should go to Victoria Falls at least once in their life. It is a must do, and (bonus!) you get an extra shower!!
